Andrew Rosen, Managing Partner

Andrew Rosen brings over 20 years of investment experience in the food and consumer products sector to the Kainos team. At Kainos, Mr. Rosen’s primary responsibilities are deal sourcing, execution and monitoring of the food investments. Prior to founding Kainos, Mr. Rosen joined Hicks, Muse, Tate and Furst (“HM”) in 1993, where he established and led the U.S. food and consumer products group and was a member of the investment committee. During Mr. Rosen’s tenure at HM, the firm invested over $2 billion in equity in over 28 platform and add-on transactions, establishing HM as a leading acquirer of food assets. Prior to joining HM, Mr. Rosen was an Associate with The Carlyle Group. Mr. Rosen is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania, receiving a B.A. in History, and the Wharton School of Business, receiving a B.S. in Economics. Mr. Rosen is a Director of Milk Specialties Global, InterHealth Nutraceuticals, Healthy Delights, Slim Fast and JTM Foods.

Robert Sperry, Partner

Bob Sperry brings over 30 years of operating and investment experience in the food and consumer products sector to Kainos. Kainos’ operational focus is led by Mr. Sperry. Prior to founding Kainos and joining HM again in January 2011, Mr. Sperry was a Partner with Brynwood Partners from 2003 thru 2010, where he was a Managing Partner and was responsible for deal sourcing, execution, approving fund investments, operational oversight, and exit of investments. He was previously an Operating Partner with HM from 1997 to 2003, where he was responsible for operational oversight of the food portfolio companies. Before partnering with HM, Mr. Sperry spent 17 years working for Nestle in a wide range of general management roles. Mr. Sperry is a graduate of Central Connecticut State College, receiving a B.A. in Business Administration, and has attended executive management programs at Cornell University and IMD in Geneva, Switzerland. Mr. Sperry is a Director of Milk Specialties Global, InterHealth Nutraceuticals, Healthy Delights, Slim Fast, Fempro and JTM Foods.

Sarah Bradley, Partner

Sarah Ashmore Bradley brings over 15 years of food and consumer products investment banking and private equity experience to the Kainos team. At Kainos, Mrs. Bradley oversees transaction development and investor relations. Prior to founding Kainos and joining HM in 2011, Mrs. Bradley was a Managing Director at Investcorp where she spent 3 years as Head of Global IR and Fundraising. Previously, Mrs. Bradley was a Managing Director at Deutsche Bank in New York in the Financial Sponsors Group and Consumer Group, where she was responsible for food and consumer investment banking and middle market private equity coverage. Prior to this, she was a Director in the Global Consumer Group within the investment bank at Citigroup Global Markets. She began her investment banking career in the Mergers & Acquisitions Group at Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette. During her investment banking tenure she worked with HM and other private equity firms on numerous transactions in the food and consumer products sector. Mrs. Bradley received a B.A. in Business Administration and a Master of Professional Accounting, both from the University of Texas at Austin, and is a Certified Public Accountant. Mrs. Bradley is a Director of Milk Specialties Global, InterHealth Nutraceuticals, Fempro and JTM Foods.

Daniel Hopkin, Partner

Dan Hopkin brings over 10 years of investing and transaction experience to the Kainos team. Mr. Hopkin joined HM in 2004 and will continue to focus primarily on evaluating, executing, and monitoring investment opportunities in the food and consumer products sector. Prior to joining HM, Mr. Hopkin was employed in the Mergers & Acquisitions department of Morgan Stanley in New York for two years. Nirav Shah, Partner

Nirav Shah brings over 10 years of investing and consulting experience to the Kainos team. Kevin Elliott, Partner

Kevin Elliott joined Kainos Capital in 2015 and brings over 25 years of operating, turnaround, and merger and acquisition experience from the consumer goods, retail and distribution industries. Prior to joining Kainos Capital, Mr. Elliott held the position of President and COO of Nash Finch Inc., leading their retail and distribution businesses as well as serving on their M&A committee. Mr. Elliott was also a leader on the integration team during the successful sale of Nash Finch to Spartan Stores Inc. Prior to Nash Finch, Mr. Elliott was with 7-Eleven Inc. for eight years most recently as Senior Vice President of Merchandising, Marketing and Distribution for its 8,000 domestic stores. Mr. Elliott was also an integral member of 7-Eleven’s acquisition strategy effort. Prior to 7-Eleven, Mr. Elliott was the VP of Procurement at Webvan, responsible for the distribution relationships nationally. Mr. Elliott started his career at Fleming Companies in the Merchandising function and was involved in the grocery, dairy, frozen, deli, and bakery categories. While at Fleming, he also held the positions of Corporate Director, Store Brands and Corporate Director, Category Management. Mr. Elliott received his BA in Operation Management at Missouri State University and obtained his Masters in Business Administration at Southern Methodist University.

Dave Knickel, Chief Financial Officer

Dave Knickel, Chief Financial Officer, brings over 20 years of private equity accounting, legal, and operations experience to Kainos. Mr. Knickel joined HM in 1995 and serves as Vice President and Chief Financial Officer and is responsible for the daily operations of the firm’s investment funds, including transaction facilitation, financial and tax reporting, cash and treasury management, and investor reporting. He routinely assists the investment teams with acquisition and exit transactions and has served on the board of directors for several of the Firm’s holding and portfolio companies. Prior to joining HM in 1995, Mr. Knickel was employed by a major international accounting and consulting firm where he served as a tax manager in the corporate finance and real estate services groups. Mr. Knickel received his B.S. in Accounting from the University of Illinois, is a Certified Public Accountant, and is a member of the Texas Society and American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

Jay Desai, Managing Director

Jay Desai joined Kainos Capital in 2016 and brings over 13 years of principal investing, investment banking and strategy experience in the consumer goods sector to the firm.  Prior to joining Kainos Capital, he was most recently the Senior Vice President of Strategy at CROSSMARK, a leading sales and marketing services company focused on the consumer industry.  Prior to joining CROSSMARK, Mr. Desai was a Director in the Mergers & Acquisitions department at Deutsche Bank Securities where he concentrated on consumer opportunities.  He also managed the acquisition function for Global Brands Acquisition Corporation, a consumer/retail-focused SPAC.  Mr. Desai began his career at Merrill Lynch before joining Mr. Rosen and other members of the Kainos team at HM Capital as an Investment Associate from 2005 to 2007.  Mr. Desai received his B.S. in Management Science & Engineering from Stanford University.

Robin Olsson, Managing Director

Mr. Olsson is a Managing Director at Kainos with a focus on evaluating, executing and monitoring the operational performance of portfolio companies. Prior to joining Kainos in 2017, he worked with Operations Strategy Partners LLC as a Principal, providing operational improvement consulting services. Kim Homa, Director

Ms. Homa is a Director at Kainos with a focus on evaluating, executing and monitoring the operational performance of portfolio companies.  Prior to joining Kainos in 2017, she worked with USC Consulting Group as a Director, where she led their supply chain and spend management practice.  Prior to that role, Ms. Homa was an executive at PepsiCo, and she began her career as a consultant in Deloitte Consulting’s and Accenture’s retail and consumer business practice areas. Ms. Homa has a M.S.M. Jerry Neisel, Chief Compliance Officer & Treasurer

Jerry Neisel, Chief Compliance Officer & Treasurer, brings over 14 years of private equity accounting and compliance experience to Kainos.
